Who we are
Buildsay is a voice work-log app, made in Australia. Questions about your privacy: support@buildsay.app.
What we keep
- Your email address, to sign you in.
- Your voice memos: the recordings, the words in them, and the notes Buildsay sorts them into.
- What you add: jobs, your clients’ names, phone numbers, emails and addresses, photos, receipts, plans and other files, timesheets and invoices.
- Your settings: your name and business name, ABN, rates, workers, the bank details you put on invoices, your logo and your language.
- Counts of how much you use the AI parts each day (memos, translations and so on), so costs stay fair.
- When you choose to, Buildsay looks up a person in your phone’s contacts on your phone. Only the details you use for a client are saved.
- We don’t track your location, show ads or keep anything else.
How we use it
- Only to run Buildsay for you: sorting your memos, making your timesheets and invoices, and backing everything up so a new phone gets it back.
- We never sell it, never use it for ads, never show it to other Buildsay users, and never use it to train AI.
Helping improve Buildsay (only if you switch it on)
- Settings → Privacy → Help improve Buildsay is off unless you turn it on.
- When it’s on, the Buildsay team may read your memos and the notes they were sorted into, to find and fix sorting mistakes.
- A memo we keep as a test example has names, phone numbers, emails and addresses swapped for made-up ones first.
- Turn it off any time; we stop straight away. It’s still never used to train AI or shared with anyone.
Who helps us run Buildsay
- Supabase stores your account and everything in it, in Sydney, Australia.
- OpenAI turns your recordings into words (in the United States).
- Anthropic (Claude) sorts your memos, reads photos and files you add, and translates messages (in the United States).
- Expo runs Buildsay’s server, Resend sends the sign-in code emails, Cloudflare runs the bot check at sign-in and forwards emails to us, and Apple Maps tidies addresses on your phone.
- They only use your information to do that job for us. OpenAI and Anthropic don’t train their AI on it, and keep it only for a limited time (usually up to 30 days) for safety checks before deleting it.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels encrypted. Your data is locked to your account, so nobody else can see it. Sign-in uses a code sent to your email, with a check that stops bots.
How long we keep it
- For as long as you have an account.
- A deleted job waits in Recently deleted for 30 days, then it’s deleted for good with its notes, photos and files.
- “Delete all my data” (Settings → Privacy) deletes your account and everything in it straight away. Copies in our providers’ safety backups clear within a few weeks.
- You’re responsible for keeping your own business records for tax (usually 5 years). Use Settings → Your data → Export my data first.
Your choices
- See and export everything: Settings → Your data.
- Change anything: right in the app.
- Delete everything: Settings → Privacy → Delete all my data.
- Questions or complaints: email support@buildsay.app and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app.
